Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar Begins With a Deadly Burglary
So, at the beginning of the movie, we meet two very cunning thieves: a man and a woman.
Their style of burglary was completely different.
They never entered a house directly.
First, they would spend hours reconnoitering their target house, noting the arrival and departure times, and only when they were 100% sure the house was completely empty would they make their move.
One day, targeting a deserted house, the two entered in the dark of night. They believed only money and jewelry awaited them inside. But they had no idea that death might be waiting for them inside.
Who Is Aleena and Why Does She Admire Harris?
The story then takes us to an area in Kerala where an honest police officer named Abraham is martyred while performing his duty. Abraham’s departure leaves his wife, Aleena, in ruins. With no one to earn a living, she has to ensure the future of her young daughter.
The police department offers Aleena a job in place of her husband, but it’s a desk job.
Seeing this, Aleena flatly refuses. She believes her husband has served the country in uniform all his life. Therefore, she too will wear a uniform and work in the field.
After this, Aleena’s conditions are accepted, and Aleena’s training begins. After much hard work and training, Aleena finally becomes a police constable.
At her posting, Aleena meets three police officers named Dasan, Divya, and Sreenath.
Within a short time, these four develop a deep friendship. They work together and become a very good team. However, they have to be very careful of their boss, SI Xavier.
Xavier was a very strict and short-tempered officer who would reprimand them over trivial matters.
Aleena had a very special habit. She was passionate about deeply understanding the methods of crime investigation. She was particularly fascinated by the investigative techniques of Harris Mirran, a very brilliant officer in the Crime Branch.
Harris had written books on major cases and methods of catching criminals lying.
Aleena’s husband, Abraham, was also a big fan of Harris. Because of her husband’s interest, Aleena not only read those books but also memorized every detail of human psychology and every technique used to destroy or conceal evidence.
In a way, Aleena wanted to be like Harris.
The Accidental Shooting That Changes Everything
Time passes, and December 24th arrives—the night before Christmas. Aleena, Divya, Dasan, and Sreenath are patrolling the area in their police jeep. They suddenly spot a car speeding by.
The driver’s face is pale. The four suspect he’s definitely drunk and driving. They arrest him and bring him straight to the police station. At the police station, while Sreenath searches the man’s car, he hastily forgets to check the trunk.
Aleena, upon seeing the man, realizes it’s not just a case of drinking and driving. This man is overly frightened. So, she immediately asks Sreenath to check the trunk. As Sreenath goes back to the trunk,
That man suddenly loses control.
He even tries to snatch the keys to the police car. The four officers then apprehend him, and a massive scuffle ensues.
In this enraged situation, Divya slaps the man hard. But her blood runs cold when she realizes he has a loaded gun.
Now the situation had completely escalated.
All four of them pounced on the man to snatch the gun. In the scuffle, the trigger was suddenly pulled. The bullet hit the man directly, and he fell to the floor.
For a few moments, the entire station fell silent. The four police officers were stunned to learn that the man they had brought in only to issue a challan had been killed in their own custody, right in front of their eyes.
The most terrifying thing was that the bullet had been fired by their own hands. If this information had reached the department, not only would they have lost their jobs, but they would have been charged with murder and would have faced jail time.
All four had a strong reason to save their lives.
Aleena feared what would happen to her daughter after she went to jail.
Divya, meanwhile, hadn’t been able to become a mother for years, and this job was her only support.
Dasan was in his 40s and had barely arranged his marriage.
Meanwhile, Sreenath was struggling to free his ex-girlfriend from the clutches of her cruel husband.
Then, after much debate and deliberation, the four of them decide that they won’t let their lives be ruined. Therefore, they will bury the body and the truth of that night forever.
But making someone disappear from the police station was no child’s play.
First, their attention turns to the CCTV cameras installed in the police station. When they go to examine the footage, they are relieved. The scene where the scuffle and the shooting occurred was outside the camera’s field of view, i.e., a blind spot. The footage did contain sound, but it didn’t show who fired the shot.
They knew that the police station’s system automatically deletes recordings older than 14 days. This meant that if they somehow managed to keep this secret for 14 days, the evidence would be automatically destroyed.
Now, their biggest challenge was disposing of the body. They took the man’s body to his car. But as soon as they opened the trunk, the ground beneath their feet slipped away.
A woman’s body was already lying inside the trunk. Yes, friends, it was the body of the same lady thief we saw at the beginning of the film.
Now the four of them begin to understand the full story: the man wasn’t just any drunkard, but a murderer who was about to dispose of his partner-in-crime’s body. But this didn’t ease their troubles, instead it doubled.
Now they had to bury not one, but two dead bodies in a place where not even a bird could fly. Because if their truth came out, no one would believe them.
Meanwhile, their strict boss, SI Xavier, suddenly arrives at the police station. Seeing him, all four panic, as he was currently cleaning up bloodstains from the very floor where the man died.
Xavier then asks in a stern voice, “What’s going on?” Aleena immediately racks her brains and innocently lies, “Sir, there was a black cat that died here. They’re cleaning up its blood.” Xavier then believes her without a doubt.
The next task was to dispose of the dead man’s car and convince his family that he was safe, because if someone from his family filed a missing person’s report, the police would search for him at this very station.
They then retrieve the dead man’s phone and send a voice message to his wife, telling her to leave for Bengaluru, to make it appear as if the man was traveling.
To prove their lie, they take the phone and go straight to Bengaluru, send a message from there, and permanently shut it down.
They believe they have created a perfect plan.
The Truth Behind the Two Dead Bodies
Well, the story now takes us back to the past, to a house on the border between Tamil Nadu and Kerala. This house belonged to a retired army officer, Vasudevan, and the pair of thieves who set out to steal at the beginning of the film actually broke into this house.
Their method was very clever. They would tie a very thin black thread to the main door during the day. If the thread didn’t break by night, it meant no one had opened the door and the house was empty.
The thread was still in place that day, so they entered without any fear. But their luck was bad. Vasudevan was present inside the house at that time, and Vasudevan wasn’t a frail old man, but a fierce army officer. He started beating the two thieves mercilessly.
To save his life, the thief pushed his female companion forward, and Vasudevan’s knife struck the woman, killing her.
The thief then uses Vasudevan’s pet dog to trick him and kill Vasudevan as well.
He then stuffs his dead partner’s body into the trunk of his car and flees. But, as fate would have it, he was caught by Aleena and her team while fleeing. That’s why he was so scared.
After this, the investigation into the murder of this retired soldier, Vasudevan, is entrusted to Harris, the most astute officer in the Crime Branch.
How Harris Begins to Suspect Aleena
When Harris arrives at the crime scene, he examines every detail. Seeing a broken black thread, he realizes this wasn’t a typical theft. His investigation then leads him to discover that two strangers were roaming the area and had also visited a nearby theater.
Connecting the dots, Harris’s suspicions fall directly on Jayaprakash, the thief, and in search of him, he arrives at the very police station where Aleena was transferred: Nattakom police station. Seeing Harris in her station sends Aleena into a panic.
She had thoroughly devoured Harris’s books. She knew Harris knew how to manipulate people’s minds, and he must have come here in connection with that case, as Aleena had learned about it.
Harris then interrogates the four police officers individually. He shows them a photo of the thief and asks them if they saw him on December 24th. All four flatly deny it. But when it comes to the car, Aleena cleverly says she saw it pass by.
Harris then traces the location of the thief’s phone. The phone was showing Bengaluru, and his activities revealed the voice messages sent to him. However, when Harris listens to those messages, he hears a faint sound of the Azaan in the background.
Harris is intrigued because the location mentioned in the message and the background sound don’t match at all. He immediately realizes that the man wasn’t sending the messages himself, but rather someone is playing this trick by manipulating the voice on his phone.
Then, as Harris leaves the police station, he suddenly turns back from the doorway, looks at Aleena, and smiles. Aleena stares at him intently, but her face remains expressionless.
In fact, Harris’s book stated that if a criminal is nervous, he will nervously smile back in response to a sudden smile from an investigator. Harris was playing this same psychological game with Aleena.
But Aleena was aware of his nervousness, so she remained as still as a stone. However, Harris became convinced that Aleena was hiding something from him, and Harris’s keen eye was now firmly fixed on all four of them.
Meanwhile, Aleena continued to read Harris’s books, trying to anticipate his next move.
All the while, happiness began to arrive in the personal lives of the four police officers. Divya learned that she was expecting a baby. Dasan’s marriage was finalized, and Sreenath began to succeed in helping his girlfriend.
Everything was going well.
But the threat of Harris still looms over them as he investigates.
Just then, another crisis arises at the police station. SI Xavier returns from Assam after 10 days of duty. He learns that the Crime Branch is investigating his station.
Just then, Xavier spots the same black cat roaming the courtyard. His mind immediately flashes back to the incident that happened that day: when Aleena had told him they were cleaning up the blood of a dead black cat.
Xavier realizes that Aleena had fooled him. So he immediately goes and tells Harris about it. Then Harris goes straight to the CCTV TV room, leaving all four of them breathless. They think that the 14 days haven’t even passed yet. They’ll find the footage, and their game will be over. But when Harris checks the computer, he’s shocked: there’s no recording from that night.
The police station actually had a new system, but the inspector had forgotten to install a memory card with extra storage, resulting in the system only storing 10 days’ worth of backups.
This enrages Harris. While Aleena and her companions believe God is protecting them, Harris isn’t going to give up so easily.
How Aleena Hides the Bodies From Harris
Aleena had guessed from his book that the police dogs would be next in line, and that’s exactly what happened.
Harris arrives at the police station the next day with a full team of sniffer dogs. The dogs sniff every inch of the area, but find nothing. Harris, too, is left wondering what game they are playing.
We then learn that Aleena had a master plan. Learning from Harris’s book, she buried the bodies not on the police station grounds but in the soil of a large dumper truck seized behind the station.
Being above ground, the dogs couldn’t smell the corpses.
By doing this, the four think they’ve outsmarted Harris again. But then a court order arrives at the police station, demanding the immediate release of the truck containing the soil, and the truck’s owner has come to claim it.
Aleena realizes that if the truck is gone, the bodies will also be exposed. So, she cleverly hides the keys. But the truck driver had another key. However, luck favors them, and the truck’s hydraulic system jams, forcing the truck owner to abandon his truck for another night.
This meant that this was the last chance for Aleena and her team. In the pitch darkness of the night, the four quietly climb onto the truck. They begin removing the soil and pulling out the bodies.
Suddenly, bright flashlights turn on from all sides. The entire police station was surrounded by police, and Harris was standing in front. It meant the game was over.
Harris had caught them red-handed.
In fact, while the dogs were sniffing around the police station, one of the dogs had behaved slightly strangely near the truck. Harris’s keen eyes had caught it, and he had deliberately obtained a court order to release the truck, hoping that in panic, these people would do something wrong and be caught red-handed.
Both bodies are recovered from the truck. But then another bag containing real elephant tusks is found. This was actually Aleena’s plan. She hid the tusks so that if she were caught, she could claim it wasn’t a murder but an attempt to expose ivory smuggling. But Harris doesn’t believe this story at all.
The Missing Bullet and Harris’s Final Trick
Now everything hinged on the post-mortem report. If the bullet found inside the corpse matched the police officer’s gun, it would have been impossible for them to survive. But when the report came, Harris was shocked.
There was no bullet inside the corpse. The bullet hadn’t even penetrated the body.
So where did the bullet go?
This deepens Harris’s suspicion of Aleena. He takes her aside and interrogates her, as Harris also considered her the smartest girl.
Aleena then admits that she fired the shot, but it was an accident. She begs for forgiveness, citing her daughter. But Harris, a man of the law, flatly refuses, vowing to get her punished. Then Aleena reminds him that confessions made in police custody don’t stand up in court, and Harris realizes this girl is beating him with his own knowledge.
Here, Harris makes a final move, calling a doctor and injecting Alina with truth serum.
In a sedated state, Harris asks Aleena where the bullet is.
Aleena, unconscious, reveals that the bullet is hidden behind the cover of a book in her house. Harris immediately goes to Aleena’s house with his team and finds the bullet.
The interesting thing is that the bullet was hidden inside a book written by Harris. Harris becomes convinced that no one can defeat him now.
The case then reaches court. The DNA of the blood on the bullet matches that of the thief. Everything was in Harris’s favor. But then the ballistics expert’s report is read, stating that every gun barrel leaves a distinctive mark on the bullet, similar to a fingerprint. However, the marks on the bullet that Harris presented in court do not match any of the guns of the four police officers.
This means that it cannot be proved in court that the murder weapon belonged to these police officers and due to lack of evidence, the court acquits all four of them because Aleena had already fabricated the news about elephant tusk smuggling.
Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar Ending Explained: How Aleena Outsmarted Harris
Aleena then returns to her daughter, and the other three return to their happy lives. But friends, the story isn’t over yet. The real twist is yet to come.
At the very end of the film, a few months later, Aleena meets Harris. Then, in a flashback, we are shown Aleena’s true master plan.
Aleena had already read from Harris’s book that Harris uses the Truth Seed when all other methods fail. Therefore, Aleena had already taken the antidote to counteract the injection. She only feigned unconsciousness after the injection and deliberately placed the fake bullet in the book so that Harris would think he had won the case.
Now, where did the bullet that killed the man go?
In fact, Aleena had already removed the bullet. She melted the iron bullet on her father’s lathe machine and had it fashioned into a beautiful ring.
This meant that the evidence Harris was turning the world upside down to find was the very thing Aleena wore on her finger every day. In a way, Aleena was daring Harris, saying, “Catch me if you can.”
Aleena then salutes Harris, and the ring glistens on that same finger. This clearly means that a mere constable, using Harris’s own technique, had defeated a genius like him.
Harris stares at him without saying a word, while Aleena walks away, holding her daughter’s hand. This is where the movie ends.
