Recently, a web series starring Purav Jha was released—a crime thriller drama featuring heists and gambling.
Let’s discuss the overall experience this series offers.
The series is titled Chaar Yaar and consists of eight episodes, each lasting approximately 30 to 40 minutes. It is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.
Before I dive into the review, let’s look at the story—what exactly happens in the series?
Chaar Yaar Story: What Is It About?
Set in Mumbai in the early 2000s, the story follows four friends from middle-class families. When they find themselves in urgent need of 20 lakh rupees, they turn to an uncle—a man who turns out to be quite dangerous. In their attempt to repay him, they gradually get drawn into crimes like gambling and car theft, which eventually pull them deep into the underworld.
The series also features a police officer named ACP Bhalerao, who is hot on their trail.
Furthermore, the show depicts corrupt police officers who are actively supporting criminals operating within the underworld.
Packed with twists, turns, and crime-thriller elements, the series keeps you engaged from start to finish.
Will these four friends manage to escape the world of crime by the end of the series? You’ll have to watch it to find out!
Chaar Yaar Review: What Works and What Doesn’t?
As for my personal take on the series—
It’s certainly not a bad show.
From the very first episode, you’ll find yourself hooked. The situations the four friends find themselves in are quite compelling.
You’ll also really enjoy the chemistry between the four friends, along with the comedic moments that arise between them.
Personally, while watching it, the series reminded me a bit of Taaza Khabar. The vibe is quite similar, though the core concept is different.
The performances by the actors and the overall presentation are solid, ensuring a good viewing experience throughout.
While the story itself isn’t particularly unique, it’s well-executed enough to keep you engaged.
The pacing is generally decent, though things do slow down in the middle episodes, which might make you feel a bit bored at times.
Chaar Yaar Final Verdict: Is It Worth Watching?
So, if you’re looking for a crime-thriller drama, this series is definitely worth your time.
I’d give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
I should also mention that the production quality is good, and the series contains adult language.
That’s all for now! If you’ve already watched it, let me know what you liked about it—and what you didn’t.
