So, I just watched a movie on Netflix. And trust me, the subject matter is so intense that if you reflect on the psychological angle after watching it, it will truly blow your mind. It forces you to think about what we humans are doing to our own kind.
It places you right on the thin line that separates a human from an animal.
Anyway, I know you might not delve that deep into it. But in case, after this review, if you sit down to watch this movie, then definitely think about its message.
Yes, I am talking about a new film directed by—and starring—Ben Affleck (you know, our Batman), which has just dropped on Netflix. (By the way, this review will go live the day after tomorrow.) The movie is titled Animals.
Look, Ben Affleck is such a Hollywood actor who will hardly have any haters. If you consume Hollywood cinema and have seen the movies of this actor, then you must have definitely become a fan of his acting.
And to be honest, I am also a fan of his acting. Apart from Batman, when some of their projects come, I get very excited about them. And it was with the same excitement that I started watching this picture.
Animals Movie Plot: A Kidnapping That Changes Everything
Here you have to give approximately one and a half hour time to finish the movie, which can be called a kind of political thriller in which you get to see the angle of kidnapping. I am telling you further what that is.
But yes you will get this picture in Hindi. But don’t watch it with your family because in Hindi dubbing you will get to hear a lot of heavy abusive u know dialogues. So keep that in mind there is terrible abuse
You won’t see anything vulgar, but as I mentioned, you will definitely hear a lot of profanity.
Well, the scene in this is that you will see the story of Mark, who is preparing to become the mayor of his city. But a twist comes in Mark’s life when someone kidnaps his son and the kidnapper demands a lot of money from Mark. And then to know what all happens in the story and what twists and turns come, you have to watch this film.
What Works in Animals: Intense Thrills and Impressive Chase Sequences
Now if I talk about this picture, I would just say that I enjoyed it and you too will enjoy it for sure 101%
If you like watching kidnapping thrillers or heist thrillers or political thrillers where you know a minister’s child is kidnapped and then that person starts doing anything to save that person. Conversations are going on with the kidnapper on the phone. The kidnapper is saying that if you do not give the money, I will kill your child.
In case if you like the concept of ticking then I would definitely recommend you to watch this picture at least once.
There is definitely a problem in the film but overall the production quality of the film or the way the film has been shot and its way of presentation forces you to think morally. At the same time, the content is incredibly intense and thrilling; It’s fun to watch.
Some of the chase sequences have been shot so brilliantly that, for a moment, seeing certain shots will make your heart pound.
There is no doubt that the performances by all the actors are good; I wouldn’t want to say anything negative on that front.
What Doesn’t Work in Animals: Weak Character Development

However, regarding the negatives, there is a rather typical angle in the film. They show a subplot involving Mark and his wife—specifically regarding infidelity—and to be honest, it felt completely unnecessary and incredibly absurd to me.
That was a major issue I found with the movie; it just felt superfluous.
Also, the character development remained quite superficial, so I couldn’t really connect with them emotionally. I didn’t feel particularly invested in whether the kidnapped victim would survive or not; I was simply watching the movie for the sake of entertainment.
The character development is a bit weak; characters just seem to pop up out of nowhere.
Animals Review Verdict: Is It Worth Watching?
Setting that aside, it is actually a pretty good thriller movie. I think you’ll definitely enjoy it if you decide to watch it, so I’d recommend it as a way to pass the time. If you don’t have anything else lined up, it’s a fun, easy watch.
With that in mind, if I were to rate it, I’d give it 7 out of 10 stars.
