Hope isn’t a normal movie. It’s Korea’s Star Wars. I say this because it’s an intergalactic war movie set against a massive war raging beyond Earth. The movie tells us very little about it.
And here I’m going to tell you:
- What the aliens came to Earth to do?
- Why did they attack humans?
- What Was That Giant Spaceship?
- What were the aliens talking about, standing there in the distance?
- What will we see in Part 2?
And what is a superhuman doing among humans?
We’ll cover all of this a little bit.
This movie has been released in theaters in multiple languages, including Hindi, so you can go and see this movie with the whole family.

Why Did the Aliens Come to Earth in Hope?
First, let’s shed light on what the aliens came to Earth to do and how this war began.
When you watch the movie, you’ll initially think the aliens have come to take over Earth, to wipe out humanity forever. But after a while, it becomes clear that the aliens actually came here as tourists, seeking refuge or hiding here. They were escaping a massive war (we’ll get to that later), but I think their child must have been lost in the meantime.
A carpenter, Yang-bae, finds the child. Whether out of fear or greed, he kills the alien child, brings the body home, keeps it in his fridge, and plans to sell it. Someone even offers him $800 for the alien child.
This carpenter is the root of this entire war. He’s the one who caused this chaos. So many innocent people have died.
Now the aliens start a search operation to find their child named Prince. But upon seeing such a huge monster, the humans start firing. If they become Mahatma Gandhi there, it will be a one-sided war. The humans will easily win. So, when bullets are being fired there, they will have to retaliate.
This is why the war started there. Due to misunderstanding and lack of communication between aliens and humans, a complete war is going on here.
And most people did not understand. But here the director has tried to show that the real villain here is neither human nor alien.
The real villain here is a misunderstanding, or all this is happening here because of the lack of communication. Neither the aliens want to kill humans, nor the humans want to kill aliens.
Everything here is just a lack of communication; aliens cannot talk to humans. That’s why all this bloodshed is happening here.
Or are humans the real villains here, because aliens don’t want to harm anyone. Humans are the ones killing them.
Just like in the beginning, carpenter Yang-bae killed that alien’s child.
So, the aliens who are killing humans here are actually saving their own lives. They’re just being retaliated against.
First, the alien child disappeared. Humans entered their spaceship. The first shot was fired by humans. So, you could say the real villain here is a misunderstanding, or humans are the real villains.
So, aliens haven’t come to take over Earth. We get to see that at the end of the movie.
Hope Ending Explained: What Happened at the End?
When the movie ends, we see two strange things.
First, this guy doesn’t even kill. An alien washed him, just like Indian laundry. Just like a ball goes through the air when we kick it, the aliens were bouncing him around and hitting him, but he still didn’t die.
I jokingly called him a superhuman. But now theories are emerging that he actually became a superhuman. Because no human can survive like this. If we look at it logically, initially I thought illogical things were being shown, but other people are dying too. Why is only he surviving?
The reason could be that due to the touch of those aliens, some mutation occurred in him, which gave him superhuman abilities. That’s why this guy survived until the end.
And the way he’s depicted in the post-credits scene at the end suggests he’ll play a very important role in the second part.
What Does the Giant Spaceship Mean?
Now, at the end, we see a huge spacecraft descending from what appears to be a portal. Initially, I thought it was descending from space. But if you look closely, it looks like a portal.
Like the one you might have seen in the 2012 The Avengers, when Tony Stark takes a nuclear missile into the portal. It feels a bit like a portal, where the spaceship directly collides with a mountain.
At that time, I thought the Earth was about to end because I thought a massive nuclear attack or something similar would happen here. But the Earth didn’t end, but the mountain did.
All the aliens standing far away from that spacecraft were watching the scene and started talking to each other.
Where it was finally concluded that one of the aliens decided to give his heart. He would find the Prince.
Now, they may have discovered that the Prince is dead, that’s why they’re searching for his body. And that’s when this alien is taking out its heart. It will use this heart to revive the Prince, because the Prince is the aliens’ last hope.
Only through that Prince can the entire alien civilization survive.
And the spaceship we see crashing in front of us, I think, is their king’s spacecraft. These aliens even speak there.
But I think that spacecraft that appears to be crashing may have been forced to crash. There may be some war going on in space, an intergalactic war, from which these aliens may have escaped and come to Earth with the help of the portal.
But the king’s spacecraft, which is a huge warship, may have been fighting a war there, but ultimately they may not have won, after which it may have tried to come to Earth through the portal, but it was either shot down or it crashed or there was some problem inside it because it was on fire while coming down, so it crashed there.
So their king is dead. They’ve understood this. The queen is alive. A few soldiers are left. And now all hope rests on the dead Prince, whom they’re about to resurrect.
So, there’s a huge intergalactic war going on here. If you look at all the aliens here, they’re all different. If we look at humans, we might have a slight difference in color or hair color, but we all look the same. But here, all the aliens look completely different.
And you definitely haven’t seen anything like this anywhere else: aliens looking so different.
If they’re from the same planet, from the same civilization, they look the same.
Looking at this, it seems that all of them are aliens from multiple civilizations on multiple planets. For some reason, they may be fighting together in an intergalactic war, either against each other’s civilizations or against other organizations.
Like, it’s possible that an evil king, ruling over multiple planets, attacked them. In the end, these 5-10 planets are left, and they are going to unite to confront him. We might see something like this.
And it seems very natural, because all the aliens here are different.
In the end, the king’s spacecraft also crashed, and with that, these aliens say in the end that now there will be a new beginning. Now a new era will begin.
Meaning, we can derive multiple meanings from it but what it means is that now there will be a new beginning.
What do they mean by a new beginning?
Will they take over Earth?
There might be a chance; we’re just theorizing here. Or, with Prince’s help, they might attack again. That could also be possible.
Hope Part 2 Theories: What Could Happen Next?
What exactly is the director trying to convey here? What is his motive? We’ll find out in the second part. But let’s discuss what’s going to happen in the second part.
As you might have noticed, the police and everyone are going to surround the school. Humans still have the dead body of that alien child, so the attack is definitely going to happen in the middle.
The aliens will go to take the Prince’s body, and there’s still no communication there. No one can understand anyone’s language. So, there will be firing, suppressed firing. Many people will be killed.
But this superhuman will definitely act as a medium. As if a mutation has started within him, he might start understanding the alien language.
So, there might be a discussion here: “Brother, aliens haven’t come to kill anyone; they want their child.” Something like this might happen.
I’m fantasizing a bit too much. But it’s possible that humans and aliens could join forces in an intergalactic war. Such a possibility is very unlikely. However, if the director thinks wildly enough, he could depict anything.
And the director plans to make a three-part film.
So, whatever they showed in Part 1, Part 2 can definitely show us that some form of communication must have taken place between humans and aliens, or it could also be that aliens have now decided to take over Earth.
Just like humans have already ruined their lives. Now, something must be done to save our civilization. And if they have to fight that intergalactic civilization or those evil people, then they will need resources, and there are plenty of them on Earth.
Additionally, it’s possible that the very forces these aliens escaped to Earth may launch an attack on Earth. We might see this in the second part. However, I expect the third part to be the one where both humans and aliens will unite. Together, they will confront the intergalactic empire that rules the entire galaxy.
So, I think it’s clear now that the aliens didn’t come here to take over. They were just staying here. The reason behind their stay is that there’s an intergalactic war going on on their planet, or wherever they came from. So, these aliens have come to Earth to escape from there.
Now, here they were searching for their son, Prince, who is dead. That’s why there was fighting here.
Prince will be alive in the second part. Then we’ll get to see the next phase of that galactic war. We’ll see communication between humans and aliens.
And maybe this new beginning here means that maybe aliens might take over Earth itself. They’re planning to establish their own kingdom on Earth.
Why Is Prince So Important?
I’m thinking that Prince might have some kind of superpower, like we saw in the Fantastic Four movie that Franklin has superpowers. I’m not saying that Prince has any major superpowers. But how Prince’s survival can save a civilization might be due to a superpower, and more will become clear in the second part.
But I hope many things have become clearer for you.
I would definitely suggest you go and see this movie in theaters.
Things have been established in Part One. We’ll see even more massive things in Part Two and Part Three.
Will Hope Part 2 Happen? Sequel Updates and Possibilities
Now, if it comes to whether Hope Part Two will be made or not? In terms of box office success, its budget is $47 million. Approximately ₹450 crore. It’s not a lot, but still a huge budget for Korea.
It’s also available on OTT. If you don’t feel like going to the theater to watch it, you can enjoy watching it on Prime Video.
Look, there hasn’t been any solid confirmation yet to definitively say that Hope Part 2 is coming. However, I did read a bit online about a potential sequel to Hope, and it seems the director already has the full story mapped out for a Part 2 or 3.
Now I most probably think that a second part can definitely be made, because the director will definitely say there, “Give me the money. We’ll make a second part, and the second part will be very good.” I mean, the way it might be discussed, I’m just saying from my own mind that while the first part may have been a little lacking, in the second part, we have a huge opportunity to present it even better and on a grander scale, which could possibly lead to a second part.
Or the director of this movie could take this movie to Netflix, as Netflix constantly makes Korean movies and series, and Netflix has done this before, like buying the rights to both parts of Knives Out for over $450 million.
Well, it would not be wrong to say that the way the movie has ended, it seems that its sequel will definitely come. The director also says that he has the story ready for the future, so now it cannot be said when we will get to see Hope Part 2.
