Hello friends, I’m Ayush, and I watched the movie Karmakhya. But after watching it, the only question running through my mind is: Bro, what just happened? What exactly did I just watch?
Spoiler Warning: Haven’t watched Karmakhya yet? Stop right here! This article contains major spoilers, including details about the ending. Watch the movie first, then come back and let’s break down what actually happened.
Karmakhya Movie Ending Explained
And I learned one thing from this movie: Bro, don’t go to anyone’s house. If you do go, don’t eat the food, and come right back.
Because this isn’t just a horror film. It deals with superstition and mystery, and features scenes that require you to delve a bit deeper into the story to grasp their true meaning.
The Story of Goddess Kamakhya and Its Connection to the Film
The film is titled Karmakhya, and it is directly linked to Goddess Kamakhya.
According to Hindu beliefs, when Mata Sati gave up her body at her father Daksha’s yajna, Lord Shiva began wandering around carrying her body.
To break Lord Shiva’s attachment, Lord Vishnu used his “Sudarshan Chakra” to sever Goddess Sati’s body into various parts.
It is believed that the “Yoni” (divine womb/genital) of Goddess Sati fell upon the Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam. This is the site where the Kamakhya Shakti Peeth is said to have been established.
This is no ordinary temple. Many “Sadhus” and saints sit there, offering cures for various ailments. These include “Sattvic” sages, accomplished (“Siddha”) ascetics, and “Aghoris”. Treatment is also provided there for individuals afflicted by spirits or demonic possessions.
Generations of some of these resident “Sadhus”—members of their lineage—had migrated to Andhra Pradesh. However, an incident occurred there that led to a volatile situation.
What Was Pravallika’s Plan?
Whatever is shown at the beginning of the movie, its answer is found only at the end of the movie: what exactly happened and the girl who does the same kind of magic is Pravallika.
The story starts with a girl named Kamakhya, who goes to the house of an elderly couple for an insurance related work in place of her friend Pravallika.
Her going there and everything that happens to her was a well-planned plan by her friend Pravallika.
Pravallika’s objective is to bring her sister back alive by seeing Kamakhya’s sacrifice, and she will accomplish this objective through puja and black magic.
And as you might have seen in the climax, when they are about to cut off his head, Pravallika’s head gets cut off.
The best thing about the film is its atmosphere. The domestic setting, the background music, and the bizarre incidents constantly make you wonder what exactly is going on.
However, early on—when Kamakhya gets kidnapped—I initially thought it had something to do with Pravallika’s brother. He isn’t mentally stable (and I say that not just because of his odd behavior, but because of his actual condition), so I assumed they had abducted Kamakhya perhaps to help cure him.
But gradually, it is revealed that their actual goal is to bring their daughter back to life. That revelation was absolutely mind-blowing and gave me goosebumps.
I am genuinely shocked; I have never seen a concept like this before, and the movie didn’t bore me for even a single minute. It never felt like the film dragged or was unnecessarily stretched at any point.
The first half flew by so smoothly that I didn’t even realize when it ended.
Now, let’s talk about the three big questions that have been on my mind.
Why Do Lizards Keep Appearing in Karmakhya?
First of all, why do lizards keep appearing everywhere? At the start of the movie—when the alarm rings and the day begins—Kamakhya spots a lizard right before the bad event (her kidnapping) occurs; perhaps it was an omen warning her that something terrible was about to happen.
Then, after she has been kidnapped and is fighting to survive, her mind is flooded with questions: “What is happening to me? Why is this happening? Will I make it out alive?”
In those moments, too, Kamakhya sees lizards—they even crawl right onto her. Honestly, I’m terrified of lizards; the moment that first lizard scene appeared, I felt like turning the movie off.
And when the scene came where a lizard crawls onto Kamakhya, I was even more terrified. My mom is also scared of lizards, so neither of us could really bring ourselves to watch those scenes properly.
So, that too is an inauspicious sign indicating that something bad is about to happen to you.
Lizards are often associated with superstition and omens of bad luck. However, at the end of the movie—when everything has been resolved and the police have rescued Kamakhya and are taking her away—she sees a lizard hiding behind a picture of a deity. This signifies that she is now safe.
Where Did the Deranged Boy Go?

While the chaos was unfolding in the house, he hid somewhere; the police either forgot to arrest him or were completely unaware of his presence in the house.
Where Did Pragya’s Body Disappear?
Now, let’s address the question that likely crossed most viewers’ minds after watching the film.
Towards the end, as preparations were being made for Pragya’s post-mortem—the very same Pragya they had been trying to bring back to life—they discovered the body was missing. Where did it go?
The movie doesn’t explicitly answer this, but my interpretation is that since the police overlooked the deranged boy, he might have been the one to take the body away.
Moreover, in horror films involving occult rituals, it is often depicted that if a ritual remains incomplete, corpses or remains vanish mysteriously.
The film raises the point that when a person chooses a wrong path to achieve something, the consequences can be horrific; attempting to resurrect the dead and indulging in superstition invariably leads to disaster.
If someone defies the laws of nature by resorting to occult practices or human sacrifice, they do not bring back their loved ones—instead, they invite destruction.
So, friends, where do you think the body ended up? Do let me know in the comments section, and share your thoughts on this explanation as well.
