After a long wait, while there isn’t a new movie featuring Jason Voorhees, a show titled Crystal Lake has arrived.
Crystal Lake is a reboot that explores the origin story of Jason and his mother, Pamela.
The show consists of eight episodes in total. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the story of the first episode.

Jason Voorhees Disappears Into Crystal Lake
The episode begins with Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees, covered in blood.
The story then flashes back nine months.
Pamela is at home watching TV when her son, Jason, sneaks up from behind and startles her.
Jason looks a bit different, though, mentally, he is just like other children his age.
Jason is well aware that he doesn’t look like other kids; whenever he goes out, people stare at him—something he finds deeply uncomfortable.
He asks his mother why he is the way he is—a question for which Pamela has no answer. Nevertheless, she loves her son dearly.
Next, we see Camp Crystal Lake, where a large group of children has arrived for their summer vacation.
John Christy is the owner of the camp, and Pamela works there as a cook. In the kitchen, she discovers a snake; she places it into a steel container and heads outside to dispose of it.
Outside, the children are learning to swim in the lake—among them is Jason. Their instructor, Claudette, tells them she is going to fetch a rope and instructs everyone to stay out of the water until she returns.
Meanwhile, some of the other children begin bullying Jason, mocking his head by calling it a “basketball” or a “boiled egg.” Jason has become accustomed to this treatment.
However, there is one girl named Grace who treats Jason kindly. Suddenly, one of the bullies intentionally throws a football at him.
Angered by this, Grace grabs the ball and tosses it into the deep water.
The bully demands that Grace retrieve his ball, threatening to report her—an action that could lead to her being expelled from the camp.
Meanwhile, Claudette—their teacher—is grabbed by her boyfriend, Barry.
Claudette says she needs to get back to the children, to which Barry replies, “So? I thought you hated those little shits.” Claudette responds, “I do. They suck.”
Barry is in a romantic mood; he says it will only take a couple of minutes.
Elsewhere, all the children are told to get out of the water.
Worried that Grace might get into trouble, Jason decides to go and retrieve the ball himself.
Meanwhile, Grace goes to look for Claudette, only to find her occupied with Barry.
Meanwhile, Pamela releases the snake into the woods. Just then, she encounters Ralph—a somewhat dim-witted man—who begins saying strange things, claiming that the area is riddled with landmines.
Suddenly, Pamela hears Jason screaming.
She immediately rushes toward the lake.
Jason is drowning in the lake.
Hearing the commotion, Claudette and Barry also come outside.
Pamela dives straight into the lake and swims toward Jason. But by the time she reaches him, Jason has already gone under, and he is never seen again.
Nine Months Later: Pamela Still Believes Jason Is Alive
The story then jumps forward nine months. We are introduced to some of the townspeople, including Trudy (a café owner), Rita, Paul, and a police officer named Levon—or “Lee,” as he is called.
Lee is called to Crystal Lake because Pam has returned there.
Paul remarks that a terrible tragedy befell poor Pamela, adding that Jason was actually a good boy—a bit frightening in appearance, perhaps, but good nonetheless.
Crystal Lake has remained closed ever since Jason drowned, yet Pamela continues to visit the lake daily. The owner has called the police to have her removed from the premises.
Lee explains to Pamela that, unfortunately, Jason’s body was never recovered—it could have drifted anywhere by now—and suggests that she should stop coming here.
However, Pamela insists that Jason is still there; she can feel his presence.
Lee drives Pamela home, mentioning that the “Founders Day” party is taking place today and that the whole town will be there. He encourages her to attend, suggesting that interacting with others might help her move on from Jason—but Pamela declines.
Pamela’s Memories Reveal Jason’s Childhood
Next, we see a flashback. Pamela had ordered some items, including a tent, which makes Jason very happy.
There is also a flashlight.
And a guide on how to survive in the wilderness. Jason says he will finish reading it that very night.
Among these items, there is also a machete. Pamela tells Jason that it will be useful for clearing brush, and we see young Jason holding a machete for the first time.
There is also a can of Sterno (canned fuel) in the box. Pamela explains to Jason, “You light the surface, the flame starts, and you can cook with it.”
Jason asks, “Really?”
Pamela replies, “Mm-hmm.”
Then Jason asks, “Can I see?”
Pamela says, “Sure. Go get the matches from the junk drawer.”
Jason goes to get the matches but suddenly collapses to the ground. He is actually having a seizure.
Pamela immediately places some medicine into his mouth, which helps him recover.

On the other hand, we are introduced to Lee’s sister, Briana.
We learn that Lee has a soft spot for Pamela, and that his wife passed away two years ago.

Pamela Discovers That Camp Crystal Lake Will Reopen
The next day, a Founders Day celebration is taking place at Crystal Lake, and Pamela is there too.
Lee is quite pleased to see Pamela.
Lee has dressed in casual clothes today, and he has even bought a new pair of shoes for $11.
Given a police officer’s salary, that’s about as expensive a pair of shoes as he can afford.
Meanwhile, Pamela notices some children swimming in the lake—Grace is among them.
Ralph leans in and whispers to Pamela, suggesting that by now, both of Jason’s lungs would be filled with water and his body would be rotting at the bottom of the lake. Paul arrives and takes Ralph away.
Then, Barry and Claudette approach Pamela and mention that they are preparing a tribute to Jason, which they plan to show everyone once the camp opens.
Pamela is shocked to learn that they intend to reopen the camp.
She cries out, “You should all be ashamed of yourselves!” She points out that her son is missing while they are busy partying, and asks why no one told her the camp was going to reopen.
Pamela further urges them to keep the camp closed for at least a year, so that Jason’s soul remains undisturbed and can find peace.
However, the camp owner replies that they need to make money.
Overcome with emotion, Pamela leaves, weeping.
Who Are the Two Men Hunting Pamela Voorhees?
When Pam arrives home, two men are standing there; they identify themselves as Ed and Benny. They claim to be police officers and have come to deliver some news to Pamela.
Pamela lets them into her home.
They ask where her husband is, to which Pamela replies that she is not married.
Anyway…
Ed informs Pamela that they have found Jason’s body and want her to accompany them to identify it.
The “officers” also ask if she would like to inform her neighbors or relatives, but Pamela says no—adding that they have likely forgotten about the whole thing by now.
On which Benny says that if there is a boy like Jason then anyone would want to forget him.
Benny had walked into the house wearing muddy shoes and complains, “Oh great, my $100 shoes are ruined!”
Hearing this, Pamela realizes that these men are definitely not police officers—after all, how would they afford $100 shoes?
Pamela says she needs to use the washroom; she is now looking for a way to escape.
Outside, Benny has prepared an injection.
After a long while, Benny breaks down the door to get inside. He begins to administer an injection to Pamela, taunting her by asking, “Did you really think you could keep evading us forever?”
Just then, Pamela manages to grab a pair of scissors and plunges them into Benny’s thigh.
Now Ed catches Pamela from behind and Pamela starts using the scissor blindly, continuously moving her hands and legs due to which Benny’s throat gets cut and he dies on the spot.
Ed then throws Pamela to the ground.
Pamela asks how they managed to track her down.
Ed explains that news of her son—Jason—drowning had appeared in the newspaper. Upon seeing this, they realized it had to be Pam and Jason; although they hadn’t recovered a body, they were confident they would find Jason soon enough.
Ed was about to inject Pam, but in the meantime, Pam had put her hand in the box and took out the machete with which she attacks Ed. First she hits him on his face, then she inserts the machete into his head and the machete gets stuck there due to which Ed also dies.
Now, there were two dead bodies in Pamela’s house.
Both of these men were linked to the ‘Argonaut’ company. Pamela made a call to someone named Nora, telling her, “They have found me.”
Pamela’s Bloody Secret and the Shocking Ending
Afterward, she placed a plastic bag over Ed’s head because he was bleeding profusely.
Just then, Lee arrived at the door, checking in to see how Pamela was doing. However, Pamela sent him away without letting him in, telling him, “If you truly care about me, then leave me alone.”
Lee left, saying, “Let me know if you need any help,” to which Pamela replied, “Yes, of course—I will let you know.”
After this—who knows how—Ed comes back to life and tries to attack Pamela. Pamela kills him again and goes into the bathroom to take a bath.

This is the same scene we saw at the beginning of the episode.
At night, Pamela takes the bodies of Ed and Benny into the woods. She places them outside a cave, smears some honey on them, and pushes the bodies toward the cave entrance.
The cave actually belongs to a bear, which emerges—but Pamela doesn’t move at all. The bear sniffs her and then wanders back inside.
After which the bear starts eating the bodies. And this is exactly what Pamela wanted. Suddenly, Jason appears and takes hold of Pamela’s hand; she is delighted, but in reality, no one is there. Either it is Jason’s ghost, or Pamela has lost her mind.
And with that, the episode comes to an end.
Is Jason Voorhees Really Dead?
So, friends—is Jason truly dead?
What will Pamela do when the camp reopens?
And why were those people searching for Pamela?
